Valencia, home of the orange!

Bordering the Mediterranean, this is the summer playground for millions of Europeans, particularly along the Costa Blanca in the province of Alicante. Its most famous resort is certainly Benidorm.

But Valencia is also an important agricultural region, producing a large part of Spain's orange crops but also its rice. This is the homeland of the national rice-based dish, Paella.

This is home to many sun-loving expats including in 2008 134,000 (registered) British, 41,000 Germans and so on. But it is also home to many migrant workers: 200,000 South Americans, 81,000 from Algeria and Marocco, etc..
