Prayer pointers, Late summer, 2007

Thank you for your interest in praying for Spain!

We were away for the earlier part of the summer when a number of requests came in, but in this bulletin we hope to resume what is going on as far as we are aware. This update should be ready in th next day or two, although we are also in the throes of moving the office next door! 13th August

Summer outreaches

For the first time in many years, three significant groups which have been running summer outreaches are all unable to do so. OM is going through a phase of reorganisation, Decision planned campaigns, but the permissions were not given, partly due to the chaos of spring local elections, and Pocket Testament League could not orgaise anything due to illness in the family.

Nevertheless, Operation transit has been going on in a number of locations, reaching out to our neighbours as they travel across Spain heading to or from their holidays at 'home' in North Africa. A number of new locations have been tried this year at roadside halts, rahter than at the ports, which are increasingly closed to this kind of activity. Much literature and copies of the Jesus film are again being distributed.

Also, this is a time of year when many local churches take on more open air outreach. Such is the case of the calle Murillo church in Palma de Mallorca, which holds open airs every Sunday evening during July to September in the Parque del Mar between the sea front and the spectacular Cathedral.

Camps

Due to the heat, schools are closed across Spain for 3 months. As a result, camps are a key activity for children and young people. Church and other christian camps are responsible for the conversion of many of the children of believers and their neighbours, so this is a key opportunity for which we ask prayer.
