Spring Prayer Requests, 2009

Thank you for your interest in praying for Spain!

1+Looking back

A particularly cold, wet, long winter is over, but we look back with rejoicing on the December Evangelists' Conference, which has been commented on elsewhere on the site.

More recently, as winter turned to spring, we rejoice at the large numbers who attended the two big missions conferences over Easter: . [Mission-Net] was held in Oldenburg, Germany and over 3,000 attended, including a good group of over 100 from Spain. These were young people with a specific interest in foreign missions and at Mission-net they were able to get to know the major ministries reaching both across Europe and from here out to the whole world. The Spanish group returned home keen to investigate further how they can be involved in missions. . Meanwhile, back in Huesca, Spain, 1,400 young people gathered for [Mission Possible], where they were encouraged by a variety of media to {emerge}, or stand up and be counted, whether in foreign missions or in local outreach and witness. . Pray that these young people will turn enthusiasm for an event into a life-long passion for reaching the lost!

1+Upcoming events

May is a month with two key prayer events. Whether you are able to join directly or not, do pray for the many Spaniards who will be gathering: . [Spain we're praying for you] is a major convocation in [Madrid on 16th May]. People from all over the country and the entire spectrum of evangelicals, will gather on the forecourt of the Santiago Bernabeu stadium (home of {Real Madrid} football club). Several thousand are expected to gather to pray for the country. . [Global Day of Prayer] is being celebrated on Saturday, 30th in Zaragoza. On this occasion, as in 213 other nations, hundreds of people will gather to pray for Spain and the world. The meeting is planned to happen in the {Place of the Pillar}, Zaragoza's main square, where legend has it that the virgin Mary met the apostle James! On this occasion many living saints will meet with the living God!

Also this spring there are other activities planned: . On 9th May the first of a series of city {Evangelical Olympics} takes place in Madrid. Children will gather for a variety of sports and hear the gospel from the mouth of a famous sports personality. . Music is also a key method used to reach young people and this year Michael W Smith is touring in early June, among other musical activities.

2+Summer activities

Decision and the Pocket Testament League again have activities planned for the summer, as well as numerous other mission agencies, denominations and local churches. We will be posting these dates as we get them, either here or <projects:3|on the events page.>

1+The web

For those of you who are regular visitors to PrayforSpain, we appreciate any feedback on the usefulness of the very varies information which is included on the web, together with comments of any improvements which you would like to see.

During the coming months we would like to make some changes to the web such that it reflects better your interests and our ability to keep you better informed as you pray for Spain. In particular, we are considering a new [Churches' news] page on the home menu, which would include the calendar of events and other more immediate prayer requests which get missed as the projects and prayer section is not updated so regularly. What do you think?

N.B. It may be that the partial renewal of this web is postponed to allow us to move over to a new CMS (data entry system), which will 'enhance your experience' and enable new developments in the future.

[Blogs] We hope that over the coming months we will also be able to involve a few more English-speaking people from around Spain who would like to contribute a blog to the site. This would involve a new section which uses different software which will make the blogs easier to find, write and read. If you are somewhere around Spain and fancy joining, do let us know.

If you would like to comment, please use the email form at the bottom of this page. Thank you!
