Key leader Juan Gili with the Lord

16 December We are sad to announce the death today of Juan Gili. Juan was founder of Evangelismo en Acción (in 1967, within months of the religious toleration law being decreed) and thereby prime mover in ministries like the new radio series mentioned elsewhere in this section, which he led for many years. In addition he was the first director of the TVE programme Tiempo de Creer (Time to Believe) He also had a key role in many major Spanish interchurch activities/ groups like the Evangelical Churches' Federation and Evangelists' Conference.

As president of the 6th Spanish Evangelical Congress, he was invited in 1993 for the first ever (and so far only) visit of the Spanish Evangelicals to the king's Zarzuela palace for an audience with the king.

Juan retired in May, 2001 and had been ill for some time. He finally died in Madrid on the 13th of December and was buried in Barcelona yesterday. There will be a memorial service in Madrid on Saturday 20th.

Your prayers, please for his widow, Clara.
