Prince to marry newsreader

3 November. On Friday night, 31st October, Letizia Ortiz read the main evening news as usual, a confident, professional journalist's work for the day. By the same time next day she had become the top news item... and remains so all this week. Virtually none of her colleagues knew what was brewing, but from one day to the next this very 'normal' middle class girl -despite being know by virtually the entire Spanish population as an attractive and well dressed, as well as evidently good newsreader and journalist- has sprung to a different league of fame. all Spain seems to be talking about the occurrence and the world of journalism / TV is especially excited to have one of their own living, as from now, in the guest suite at the Zarzuela Palace, home of her future mother in law! Previously, she lived in a modest flat in a typical high denisty housing area on the eastern side of Madrid, such as where many of the evangelical believers and foreign workers also live. The former presenter of the evangelical programme Buenas Noticias TV lives in the same neighbourhood.

It is worth noting that, in general, the Spanish evangelicals are not particularly monarchist, since the monarchy is still closely related to the Roman Catholic church and is therefore not seen as a natural ally of the heirs of the Inquisition's victims! Nevertheless, there is a great respect for the person of the king and his role in supporting the coming of democracy in the early years of his reign.
