Internet Ministries
As elsewhere in the world, the significance of the World Wide Web as a means to communicate ideas is rapidly being appreciated, if not yet fully understood by the evangelical churches.
A number of very interesting web sites and ministries have sprung up over the past year or two and some of these are not only for internal use, although this is the case for the majority.
Among the ministries which are using Internet for exchange of news and ideas within the evangelical community are ECMI, with El Portal Cristiano, as well as the FEREDE and Evangelical Alliance, with their IC Press news service.
Of particular interest to PrayforSpain is, of course, the online prayer network. Due to the evident difficulties of this kind of ministry in keeping out gatecrashers, while allowing in guests, it has so far been impossible to establish a long-term 24 hour prayer network, but the 24-7 network is as close to it as possible. (PrayforSpain has no current intentions in this direction!)
Among those using Internet to reach out to others, although a majority of enquirers to some sites may still be already believers are Alturas, with a purely evangelistic Bible Course (link) and other sites linking people with specialist interests to it; and lamparaes.com, with a number of specialised, Bible-based messages, linking finally to the Alturas Bible Course.
