Meet the family - Sunday at Jundiai

The Jundiaí Memorial Baptist Church has an auditorium which fills up with some 500 to 600 people every Sunday evening. With the youth camp and other holiday absences, the morning service which began at 9.30 am was more modest. During the day I had Adriana to translate my message in the morning and then an extra helper Nadir, a professional interpreter so I preached the evening message in English. Those who know English language thought my British accent strange! Except the daughter of a Brazilian pastor in Manchester who was there to listen. I thought her accent was strange!! During lunchtime we went off to sample further Brazilian dishes at a local restaurant accompanied by a tasteful ´Samba´played by a live palm court orchestra of clarinet, bass and guitar, with other percussion. Then off to a siesta and further sermon preparation. Adriana has two other sisters who appeared back from the youth camp where I preached on Saturday. They were disappointed by disunity among the team and a clear rebellion of many of the young guests at this event. However loving one´s treatment of those who do not know Christ, only the power of the Holy Spirit can bring real conviction face to face with the law. Interestingly one of the most rebellious of the young men came to repentance and a commitment to Christ the night following my preaching on the ´Women Taken in Adultery´. We are getting geared up for the start of the workshops with almost 100 participants from this evening. Please pray for the equipping of God´ s people. I should add that I have one or two faithful sisters here who are giving a back up in intercession as part of their service this week.

La iglesia Bautista Memorial en Jundiaí tiene un auditorio que puede llenarse con entre 500 y 600 personas cada domingo por la noche. Durante el día tuve a Adriana para traducir mi mensaje de la mañana y luego una ayudante adicional, Nadir, una intérprete profesional, y por tanto prediqué en inglés por la tarde. Los que conocían el inglés pensaron que mi accento británico fue raro! Aparte de la hija de un pastor brazileño de Manchester quien estuvo. Yo pensé que su accento era raro!! Durante el almuerzo nos fuimos localmente para comprobar más platos brazileños, acompañado por una pequeña orquestra de clarinete, bajo y guitarra tocando la Samba con otra percusión. Luego a la siesta y más preparación del mensaje. Adriana tiene dos hermanas que llegaron desde la acampada en la cual prediqué el sábado. Estuvieron un poco tristes por la falta de unidad entre el equipo y una clara rebelión entre muchos de los invitados jóvenes en este acontecimiento. A pesar del cariño del trato con los que no conocen a Cristo, sólo el poder del Espíritu Santo puede traer el convencimiento verdadero de cara a la ley. Es interesante que una de los jóvenes más rebeldes llegó al arrepentimiento y un compromiso con Cristo durante la noche después de mi predicación sobre 'la mujer adúltera'. Ya preparamos los talleres con casi 100 participantes a partir de esta noche. Orad por la preparación del pueblo de Dios. Debo añadir que tenemos aquí un par de hermanas fieles en intercesión que nos apoyan como parte de sus servicio durante esta semana.
