Olympics Cycling: Samuel Sánchez gets first gold in road race; Joan Llaneras gold and silver (with Toni Tauler in 'Madison') and Leire Olaberria bronze in track. Fencing: José Luís Abajo bronze. Tennis: Rafa Nadal wins gold, Victoria Ruano and Anabel Medina get silver. Gymnastics: Gervasi Deferr silver on floor. Sailing: Martinez and Fernandez silver in 49er, Fernando Echávarri and Antón Paz gold in Tornado -dedicating their medal to the families of the Madrid accident. C-1 (calm water canoe): David Cal silver in both 1km and 500m. K-2: 500m gold. Synchronised swimming: team and duo silver Hockey: men's silver. Basketball: silver. Handball: bronze. Championship: Pedrosa still 3rd overall, followed by Lorenzo, Debon and Bautista also in 3rd and 4th positions.
Tennis: Rafa Nadal is World number one and now Olympic gold medallist. Spanish girls Victoria Ruano and Anabel Medina got doubles silver. Nadal now at US open.
