Synchronised swimmer Gemma Mengual gets 6 medals (several with other Spanish girls) in Melbourne; Lorenzo wins 250cc, Pedrosa 2nd in GP, Faubel 2nd in 125 at Jerez Moto GP; Spain beat Denmark in Madrid; Nadal wins at Indian Wells; Alonso 2nd in Melbourne GP; Madrid beats Nastic to restore morale, but Barça still top of League with Sevilla; Hat trick in men's 1500m in Birmingham, 6 other medals. Champions: return leg: Madrid knocked out by Bayern, Barcelona by Liverpool, Valencia went through against Inter and now face Chelsea; Uefa: 3 clubs to 1/4 finals; Barcelona won basketball 'Copa del Rey': read on!

Football (soccer): European Cup: Spain beat Denmark in Madrid on 25th. League Barcelona holds lead after 27th round with Sevilla on same points. Champions' League Barcelona knocked out by Liverpool, despite winning game, Valencia beat Inter, (on and off the pitch!), Madrid knocked out by Bayern; Valencia now face Chelsea. UEFA: Sevilla, Espanyol and Osasuna through to 1/4 finals.
Motor: Bikes Spaniards did well at Jerez GP; Faubel 2nd (125), Lorenzo won and Bautista 2nd (250), Pedrosa 2nd in GP; F1: Alonso 2nd in Melbourne.
Tennis Indian Wells: Nadal won.
Basketball Madrid beats Tau to take Copa del rey; Madrid leads ACB league from Tau, after 26th round. Spaniards Calderón, Garbajosa and Gasol continue to excite NBA.
Cycling Alberto Contador wins paris-Nice; Judge 'files' doping case Operation Puerto as no evidence provided of threat to public health.
Other: Swimming Gemma Mengual leads Spain to 6 medals in synchronised at Melbourne World championships, women's water polo team in last 16, men in last 8; National Handball team disappointed, but beat Iceland in its last game in World Cup to gain place in pre-Olympic tournaments; 2 teams throough to European champions' semifinals. Athletics: 9 medals for Spain in Birmingham indoor Europeans, incl. hat trick in men's 1500m; Chema Martínez takes 2nd place in Rome Marathon.
